About

Welcome to my website!

My name is Daniel Monk and my purpose is to create opportunity. If you are an agriculturist, entrepreneur, or just interested in the future of sustainable controlled environments, then you are in the right place. My blog ventures deep into the greenhouse industry, uncovering problems, solutions, and opportunities. I encourage collaboration  between growers and greenhouse manufactures, please use my blog as a hub to voice your questions, opinions, experiences, etc.

A little bit about me:

I value personal growth, spending most of my time learning while generating experiences with my friends and family. In my free time, when I am not obsessing over which bands are coming to town, I find myself engaging in proactive discussions on ski lifts or having near death experiences on my mountain bike.

I have put some serious effort into my education, earning a B.S. in Information Systems and an MBA with an emphasis in renewable energy. I see a bright future in the greenhouse industry and I am lucky to have a career alongside the great people at Agra Tech greenhouse manufactures.

I am always interested in engaging with new people, feel free to send me an email at ContactDanielMonk@gmail.com, connect with me on LinkedIn, or send me a tweet at any time about any topic.

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Monk

    1. Yes, greenhouses can be used to grow produce in space.
NASA has had success with it back in 2010.(http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/10-074.html)
Also, check out the University of Arizona’s Lunar Greenhouse Project. (http://ag.arizona.edu/lunargreenhouse)
They look more like a grow chamber than a greenhouse, but they use the same concept. For growing in space you need light, water, oxygen, and a sealed environment.

Thank you for the comment, I may blog about this topic with a little more detail in the near future.
